The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has joined with the Cayuga County SPCA in the investigation into the deaths of two puppies which were found near a creek on Dresserville Rd. in the Town of Sempronius on April 7th, 2015.
The two puppies, one male and one female, were found deceased in a crate with a red water bowl and a blue and white striped zippered sweatshirt. The puppies have undergone Necropsies at Cornell University. The cause of death has been ruled dehydration and/or starvation. The puppies which are officially classified as a “Shepard mix” are similar in appearance to Belgian Malinois. Cornell University has established their age as approximately 5 to 6 months old indicating the puppies were born sometime last fall. It is unknown when they were placed by the creek and it is unknown at this time if the location is where the puppies died or if the deaths occurred elsewhere and the crate later dumped at that location.
We are providing the public with photographs of the crate, a red water bowl and a blue and white zippered sweatshirt in hopes that someone will recognize them and help to identify who these puppies belonged to. The condition of the puppies is indicative that they were malnourished for several weeks prior to their death.
